Flux Reception

FAQ

Who Can Enter?

FLUX is open to undergraduate students pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree at a U.S. higher-education institution.

Eligible work must be created during the 2025–2026 academic year, while you were enrolled. That includes coursework, class projects, freelance, and pro bono work.

Recent graduates, international students at U.S. schools, group projects, and currently working professionals are welcome if the work was made while you were enrolled that year. Group members can be listed on the entry form for award recognition.

AI Policy

AI use is permitted. You must remain the primary creative author and have the rights to every element in the work. Disclosure is encouraged, not required, and will not affect judging.

Disclose when generative AI created or substantially influenced imagery, writing, concepts, motion, audio, or other meaningful parts of the finished work. You don’t need to disclose production help like background removal, upscaling, or proofreading.

If AI was only used during exploration, or you substantially revised the final work, disclosure is optional. When in doubt, we encourage transparency.

How will you be judged?

Judges review each entry blindly, without the entrant’s name or institution, and score it on a straightforward point-based system.

What happens after you submit?

Judging takes about two months. We’ll announce all finalists and post badges to Flux accounts.

Your work deserves to be seen.

Flux has been giving students a chance to shine nationwide since 2007. The former AIGA Blue Ridge chapter founded the competition to spotlight emerging design talent.

When Blue Ridge disbanded, AIGA Baltimore adopted Flux in 2022 to keep the competition and its legacy alive.

Today, Flux focuses exclusively on undergraduate designers nationwide. We aim to support students during their formative years and help their work reach audiences beyond the classroom.

Our mission is to give emerging designers a platform where their creativity and hard work can be recognized.

OURSPONSORS

AIGA Baltimore thanks the following sponsors for supporting this year's Flux Student Design Competition!
